Description
Masahiro Distillery was founded in 1883 by Shobun Higa, his father Shozoku Higa was the master chef of the former Ryukyu Kingdom.
With the help of huge reputation and family connections, Shozoku Higa, gained the trust to be licensed as a distillery to make the traditional Okinawan spirit “awamori” and has since established itself as one of the oldest and oldest distilleries. Okinawan greats.
Shozoku’s passion for cooking can be found alive today in the philosophy of the Masahiro Distillery company of producing only by hand and with the highest quality.
Reinforcing tradition with modern business philosophy, Masahiro Distillery is Okinawa’s first distillery to be certified to ISO 9001 (the international standard for a quality management system), while its scenic surroundings have attracted both tourists and enthusiasts of the spirit.
In 2018, eighth generation owner Masayasu Higa successfully launched Okinawa Gin, his first foray into artisanal whiskey and the beginning of his ambition to become one of the world’s leading producers of premium whiskey.
Masahiro Pure Malt Whiskey combines a Pure Malt aged in sherry and oak barrels for over three years and Jack Daniel’s first bourbon barrel aged for at least half a year.
Okinawa’s warm and humid subtropical climate and the breeze from the Pacific Ocean help accelerate barrel maturation, creating a rich and balanced flavor with hints of tropical fruits.
Nose: Aromas of citrus, pineapple, banana and other tropical fruits, with a mild sweet vanilla ice cream flavor. Sweet and balanced.
Flavor: A light body and a delicate malt, with a hint of ginger juice and white wood flavor.
