Portofino Gin
Portofino Dry Gin: the spirit of the Italian Riviera in every sip
Born in the heart of Portofino, this artisanal gin captures the essence of one of the most iconic corners of the Mediterranean. Made with 21 botanicals hand-picked from the hills surrounding the village.
Portofino Dry Gin blends tradition and modernity into a unique recipe that invites you to experience la dolce vita wherever you are.
In 2019, three friends united by their love for Portofino decided to bottle the magic of this small Ligurian village.
Thus Portofino Dry Gin was born — a tribute to the timeless beauty of the Italian Riviera and to Klaus Pudel, grandfather of one of the founders, who helped preserve the village during the Second World War and hosted some of the most legendary parties of the Dolce Vita era.
The soul of the gin lies in the hills of Portofino.
There, in a botanical sanctuary, the 21 botanicals that give life to its recipe are cultivated and hand-harvested.
Fresh lemon, juniper, lavender, rosemary, marjoram, sage, iris and rose join other herbs and flowers native to the Mediterranean scrubland.
The region’s microclimate allows these plants to grow with intensity year-round, giving the gin its authentic Ligurian character.
Distillation takes place at the historic Antica Distilleria Quaglia, founded in 1890. Each botanical is macerated individually for seven days and distilled separately, combining traditional copper stills with vacuum distillation technology that preserves the most delicate aromas.
The result, diluted with pure water to 43% ABV and free of additives or artificial flavours, is a gin with a fresh, floral and deeply Mediterranean profile.
On the nose and palate it opens with notes of fresh lemon and crisp juniper, giving way to a universe of coastal aromas: the perfume of rosemary and lavender, the softness of marjoram and sage that evoke traditional Ligurian cuisine, and an elegant floral finish.
The bottle, square-shaped and turquoise blue, is inspired by vintage perfume bottles from the 1950s and 1960s and by the landscape of Portofino itself: the sea, the colourful houses and the green hills.
Every detail is designed to transport the drinker to the Italian Riviera.
Today present in more than 60 countries and awarded Master and Gold medals at The Gin Masters, Portofino Dry Gin is far more than a spirit. It is the Italian Riviera bottled: a sensory journey to one of the most beautiful places in the Mediterranean, ready to accompany you in every aperitivo.
