The Compass Box story begins in 2000 when John Glaser was working for a large UK distillery when he realized that there were so many things that had not yet been explored in the world of Scotch whiskey.
A London-based American and whiskey and marketing expert, he decided to do something refreshing, different to bring the joy of Scotch to more people in new ways and exciting flavors.
So he founded Compass Box, an inventive company based on the long-lost model of the house of scotch blends, but with a forward-thinking approach and a relentless desire to create delicacies.
Originally working from his kitchen, Compass Box has grown over the years and now has two dedicated Blending Rooms in London. We have our own stocks of maturing whiskeys in Scotland and a team of over 15 passionate whiskey lovers.
We believe that Scotch whiskey is one of the best drinks in the world. With more spectrum of flavor and style than any other liquor, it has an incredible capacity to delight both newcomers and the most demanding devotees.

A well-made scotch blend, from whiskeys of excellent component, is something that no distillery can create and can rival the complexity of the best single malt whiskeys. Everything has a beginning and rules within the Compass Box, the Whiskeymakers (Whiskey Geeks) work with a world of equally passionate partners to explore the interplay between the maturation of Scotch and oak over time. From sourcing the best cooperage oak in the world from the Vosges forest in France and the forests of Missouri, to individually sampling almost every barrel we use in each of our blends, we are fans of quality.
We believe that every detail at every stage of the process has the potential to add something magical to the finished mix.
