Rebel Yell whiskey began as the property of W.L. Weller & Sons, founded in 1849 by William Laure, a pioneer in the use of wheat, instead of rye which was what was used to make the distillate that resulted in American whiskey or rather bourbon, is in the mash mixed with wheat and corn where Rebel Yell achieves a softer style.
